Almost 50% of all marriages end in divorce. 100% leave people with a massive sense of loss. And when trying to find out "why," women overwhelmingly enter into long therapy to piece these things back together. Men do too, and the men I know who have been divorced saw therapists, but none that went on for a year. Conversely, I don't know a woman who has gotten divorced (who has the means) and DIDNT do a year.

As it was explained to me by a therapist friend, "Therapists are small business owners". "And small business owners need customers". Obviously highly unscientific, but if you look at the thumbnail data, and you wanted to get 52 payments as opposed to 3 or 5, who do you apply the complex stigma to, thus creating a martyr or victim who really needs help? The one likely to make those 52 payments or the one who would most likely spend their grief money on liquor and the 10 years younger check out girl at the car wash?

Men spend money on divorce attorneys, women spend it on therapists. Both have a legitimate use, but IMO most of the time, both also exploit the process for personal gain.

Lastly, you can apply sex addict symptoms to every 15 to 26-year-old male walking the planet.
