At first, I thought you were helping me make my argument when I started reading your response. However, I was thrilled to see some opposition so I could further explain what it obviously means if someone tones out all the BS people say it means.

Other than in Florida, you in fact can walk into a library and check out any book as long as you have a library card. You can then leave with it, read it, or whatever you like. After which you return it.

Because you do not own the book, the library does.

You are correct, it does not say anything about "borrowing". Just like it does not say anything about owning. The library analogy was a guess based on the words and language the founding fathers agonized over before signing the document.

The "theft" argument you claim I make, I dont even understand. So I'll skip that.

The US Army (which is just the biggest and most well-established, organized militia in the history of the US) does exactly what the 2nd amendment says to do. And that is to provide, train, and organize Americans with firearms.

Those firearms are then kept in a secure location and the soldiers do not get to keep them.

They are not gifts you receive once discharged and they are heavily regulated while you do have them in your possession. I confirmed that with a friend who was in the Army and he said, "The only thing I got in the Army that i will keep forever is Herpes".
