Part of this is a total disregard for corporate responsibility when the media's relationship with ad buyers is brought into it.

I am just seeing this now, on Medium becasue I happen to follow a particularly astute tech blogger.

Instead of a news report by one of the news sources I pay small fees to keep me up to date, or a nightly news report.

I used to rely on Twitter for such things but I've moved away from it for obvious reasons.

Just for shits and giggles, I googled this event a couple of different ways to see which news source felt this mattered.

4 Days ago NBCNews had the story.

2 Days ago, CBS ran the story.

Other than local news affiliates in Illinois ABC, CNN, and FOX didnt seem to think it was working a 150 words up.

However, I also found this:

https://advertisers.mediaradar.com/volkswagen-group-advertising-profile

Volkswagen Group spent over $100 million on advertising in digital, print, and national TV in the last year. They are currently not investing in any premium ad units, but advertised on over 250 different Media Properties in the last year across multiple Media formats. Volkswagen Group launched and advertised 19 new products in the past twelve months.

We have 30 people on file in marketing roles at Volkswagen Group, and 10 at their agencies.

This situation pissed me off given my situation (explained in the article I posted last week and linked below) and the reality my former health insurance committed fraud and left me to die. I have sent the article to numerous media outlets and am either ignored or initial enthusiasm is replaced by a lack of interest once my former insurer's ad spend is brought into view.
